6TH ANNUAL DEMONSTRATION
to call Government and public attention to the $CIENTOLOGY SCAM,
CLEARWATER FLORIDA, DECEMBER 2-3, 2000
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
- The Church of Scientology's continued policies and
actions that harm people have prompted critics of the
Church from around the world to schedule a 6th annual
nonviolent demonstration against Scientology at the
Church's spiritual world headquarters in Clearwater
Florida.
- Ex-Scientologists and concerned citizens will be holding
a press conference on December 2 and 3, in Clearwater to expose
Scientology's harmful policies and practices, telling
their own experiences with this dangerous organization.
- The night of Dec 3, a final candlelite demonstration will
be held near the Ft. Harrison Hotel where Lisa McPherson,
a Scientologist for 18 years, died under mysterious
circumstances. Previous candlelite demonstartions have
been aired on NBC's Public Eye, show. That night, a
candlelight vigil will be held (exactly 3 years after
Lisa's death) to remember her life cut off in her 36th
year. Lisa's estate is suing the Church for wrongful
death. Much information on her case is on the internet
(www.lisamcpherson.org), including Scientologists' logs
of her last 17 days, autopsy photos, and similar cases
involving Scientology's policy of imprisoning members
they have labelled as "psychotic."
- Scientology has attempted to silence critics by
distributing libelous material in critics' neighborhoods,
by harassing protesters, sending private investigators to
intimidate, attempting to close down the internet
newsgroup alt.religion.scientology, and by suing critics
and the media. Church members have harassed and
intimidated peaceful protesters at previous pickets in
Clearwater and elsewhere.
