You are missing the real roots of Nazism.  Which
was the pseudoscientific racism of Count Arthur De Gobineau.
From Gobineau, Germans got the idea of racial purity, Aryan
superiority, and much more, and added to that long standing
Catholic and German anti-Semitism.
Read some of Martin Luthers stomach turning rants on Jews
for example.  Gobineau's massive book, The Inequality of the Races
capped his career in the mid 19th century, he published a decade 
before Darwin and his book was a best seller.  Numerous racist 
societies started after he published his book.

The idea of  master race had nothing to do with occultism but came 
from racists such as Gobineau, whose book summed up the whole
movement.  It grew out of archaeology and anthropology, and study
of languages.  A pseudoscience, not occultism.  It added in crackpot
ideas on race.  Gobineau was a biblical literalist, and Hitler's speeches
and writings crawl with Hitler's claims to save Christianity from Bolshevik
atheism.

It was one one his most common themes and resonated with Germans
primed with age old Cathloic anti-semitism, Martin Luther's anti-semitism
and Gobineau's racist theories.

If you know little about Gobineau and other racist theorists you wil under
stand little about Germany in the 30's.  Most Germans knew little about the
silly occultism some Germans like SS leaders were interested in.
All knew anti-semitism, German ywas a land where pogroms were 
common enough. and all knew Gobineau's Aryan nonsense which was a 
century old by then and well propagated.

Germans were worried collapse of economies was feeding
Boleshevik communism with its attendent atheism and Hitler 
played heavily on those fears.
