Since this has Space Traveler upset, I post this URL on the subject matter. http://home.tiscali.de/alex.sk/A_Stickley2.html Its probable Hubbard did not write it all. It seems to have been written by a clown named Goff who wrote it as dystopian anti-communist fiction in the 30's. Hubbard apparently ran across a copy and rewrote parts of it and peddled it as the brainwashing manual in the 50's. The Anderson report, chapter 12 notes it seems to be a blueprint for how Scientology operated in the 60's. Whatever its original source, Hubbard peddled this thing and sent copies to goverment agencies. ---------------- Bare-Faced Messiah: The True Story of L. Ron Hubbard by Russell Miller adds that the Federal Bureau of Investigations's Central Research Section, upon being presented with a copy of "Brain-Washing" by Hubbard, concluded its authenticity was doubtful and did not acknowledge receipt of the pamphlet. A wobbly eye rhetorical question isn't disproof. --------------------- > Goff died in 1943. The manual did not come into existence > until 1955 (see WorldCat), the year Hubbard published it. This would seem so. The Hubbard version mentions nuclear weapons which Goff, who supposedly died in 1943 would not have been able to know of. 1955 seems to be the earliest date that a copy of this is known. All we know is, whatever its origin, it most certainly came from or passed through Hubbard and was published and peddled by Scientology. Upon reading the website's material I posted, I am more inclined to think its is indeed Hubbard's work. Stickly seems to be a total fiction. Surely Hubbard. ------------------------ > Why do you continue associationg Hubbard with the booklet. He is not > mentioned anywhere in the book, he was not the author either. Any idea how > many of these kind of publication have been issued by the Church back > then? Is LRH the writer of all these damn things also? > Of COURSE NOT you eedjit! This was third party games on Hubbard's part. He was trying to make it look like those bad ol' commies were trying to get into brainwashing and only Dianetics and a few others were agin this evil plot. Only Hubbard the anti-brainwashing expert can save America from the brain washing commies and their sputniks! Obviously, he was hoping th' guvmnit would fall for this and look kindly up them there Dianetics people. Maybe hire Hubbard to a prestigous job. This fool was also writing letters threatening to pick up his Dianetics ball and go to Russia. Been offered Pavlov's old lab n' everything. The same idiot later wrote NASA offering Dianetics training for astronauts. And wrote weird letters to the FBI. Goofball was playing all sorts of games. The brainwashing manual was just one more. > Do you realize that you are in the assuming business...? And are lacking > sufficient back up for your claims... > > Spacetraveler > Assuming business?! And you are the guy assuming somehow Hubbard who flunked out in college was somehow still a nuclear physicist?! That maybe he was awarded that for some service somewhere? Now, when it comes to assumptions, you aren't shy about making up some extremely silly ones! We know Hubbard peddled this book under Scientology auspices. We know hw made sure the FBI had copies. Why? The Hubbard claims that Dianetics was one of the few organizations to be aware and against this dastardly brainwashing plot says it all. This idiot was hoping the panicky government would come running to him for expertise and help. Not much to surmise here, the entire plot is rather transparent.
